Parks Stables Celebrates the Holidays

Everyone enjoyed the great Christmas Party organized by Judy and crew. Food was shared, stories told and Santa visited the horses in our lives.

Viv Harding put her superb photographic skills to use as she gave us these unexpected views of our horses. Christina proved she knows our horses as she identified our mounts without a second's hesitation. Can you tell who's who?

Jumping Instructor Needed

Park Stables is looking for a jumping instructor.

If you can help our keen riders learn the finer points of clearing obstacles while remaining seated, please contact Christina at 403-242-9232

Bringing Home The Hardware

The riders at Park Stables love to ride and it shows. Many of us can be found at the barn in warm weather and cold, working our horses.

This dedication was recognized at the Calgary Western Riders awards event. Park Stables people received several awards. Rumor has it our very talented leader, Christina, got an award too, although she is much to modest to mention it.

Congratulations everyone on great riding!

Horses Reveal Their Personalities

Riders at Park Stables had the chance on Sunday to learn more about their horse personalities. Dessa Hockley, author of Is Your Horse a Rock Star?, and Cathy Thomas led a workshop with ten horses and their owners. Riders had the chance to observe their horse 'off leash' and discover more about their true nature.

We were all surprised to see little Mar display his wild side (turns out he's a skeptic). Pride is perfectionist, and a lucky one who has had a stable life (excuse the pun) since birth. It turns out we have a couple of 'goddesses', a steady eddy, a people pleaser, and a macho man. We know horses have their unique traits, but it was educational to learn new ways to work with each personality type.
